Funding to Modernize Old Properties

Homeowners in Poland Can Get Funding to Modernize their Properties.

Suppose you own an older home in Poland that needs updates and renovations. The government can provide financial assistance through grant programs to modernise the country’s ageing housing stock.

One of the main initiatives is the “Czyste Powietrze” (Clean Air) program, which subsidises homeowners for projects that improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions. Grants can cover up to 60% of the costs for upgrades like replacing an old furnace with an air-source heat pump, installing new insulation, or installing energy-efficient windows and doors.

Depending on the extent of the renovations, homeowners may be eligible for grants worth tens of thousands of złoty through Czyste Powietrze. For example, a comprehensive overhaul could qualify for a subsidy of up to 135,200 złoty (around €30,000). Even minor upgrades like a new heat pump could cover 20,000 PLN (Polish Zloty).

You must provide proof of income below certain thresholds to qualify for these modernisation grants. The application processes also require supplying professional audits, cost estimates for the planned renovation work, and technical building plans.

While applying for these grants may involve some bureaucratic hurdles, their substantial financial support can significantly alleviate the burden of bringing older properties up to modern standards. With the rising energy and construction costs, these subsidies present a valuable opportunity to make long-deferred home improvements more affordable, providing a sense of relief to Polish homeowners.
